The Veils

"The original lineup of The Veils disbanded in late 2004, following a string of internal altercations related to the future sound of the band. After this Andrews returned to New Zealand in order to find a new lineup and the write a new record. He spent the summer rehearsing with high school classmates Liam Gerrard (keyboards) and Sophia Burn (bass). The trio returned to London in early 2005 where they were joined by Dan Raishbrook (guitar) and Henning Dietz (drums).

The group recorded their second album Nux Vomica at Underbelly Studios in Los Angeles, with producer Nick Launay, and the album was released on 18 September 2006. The album featured string arrangements by ex-Lounge Lizard and long time Lou Reed collaborator Jane Scarpontoni. Nux Vomica featured on 9 critics' Best Of The Year lists in 2006.[who?]

During the sixteen months of touring that followed the release of Nux keyboard player Liam Gerrard left the band and The Veils continued on as a four piece. It was during this period that they started living in a garage in Oklahoma and using The Flaming Lips studio to record demos for their third album between playing shows on the east and west coasts of America. They returned to London 6 months later and began recording with Graham Sutton. The album, entitled Sun Gangs, was released worldwide on April 6th."

Fever Ray

Nao dormi.
Os dias deixaram-me gasto.

Bat For Lashes

"Daniel when I first saw you
I knew that you had a flame in your heart
And under under our blue skies
Marble movie skies
I found a home in your eyes
We'll never be apart

And when the fires came
The smell of cinders and rain
Perfumed almost everything
We laughed and laughed and laughed
And in the golden blue
Cryin' took me to the darkest place
And you have set fire to my heart

When I run in the dark, Daniel
To a place that's lost
Under a sheet of rain in my heart
Daniel
I dream of home

But in a goodbye bed
With my arms around your neck
Into our love the tears crept
Just catch in the eye of the storm
And as my heart ran round
My dreams pulled me from the ground
Forever to search for the flame
For home again
For home again

When I run in the dark, Daniel
To a place that's lost
Under a sheet of rain in my heart
Daniel
I dream of home

When I run in the dark, Daniel
To a place that's lost
Under a sheet of rain in my heart
Daniel
I dream of home "

The dead

Raising of walls through "parameters"

Letra

locked in his bedroom
he saw the world
a web of answers
and cumshot girls
tick tick tick tick tick
tick tick tick tick tick
don't bother blaming
his games and guns
he's only playing
and boys just want to have fun
he picked a soundtrack
and packed his bag
he hung his walkman
around his neck
tick tick tick tick tick
tick tick tick tick tick
it's so simple
the way they fall
no cry, no whimper
no sound at all
tick tick tick tick tick
tick tick tick tick tick
tick tick tick tick tick
tick tick tick tick tick
tick tick tick tick
boom

"

Though I’ll Be Lightning is his first solo album, it’s not by a country mile the 24-year-old’s debut musical endeavour. Liam’s first publicly visible use of those aforementioned skills came in fronting the band Betchadupa, a close knit outfit of childhood best friends with whom Finn relocated from his native New Zealand to London in early 2005.

A debut album a few years in the making now, I’ll Be Lightning is a record on which Liam Finn – over a two month period in Roundhead Studios in Auckland – like some bearded, Kiwi version of Prince, plays, records, engineers and produces nigh on everything you hear. It’s a process born out of a strikingly singular, unshakable vision, a desire to record the songs exactly as they were in his head, free of outside influence. It seemed, and was, the only way he could have done it."
